We thank all who work
- everyday -
to make it an

Fort Hood Soldiers - and their Families - are very heavily committed.

Last year, virtually all Fort Hood units saw combat in Iraq or Afghanistan - most on their second 12 to 15 month assignments - - some on their third or fourth.

Today, over 20,000 of our 52,000 Soldiers are in the fight - on 15 months of combat duty.

The Headquarters, 4th Infantry Division is deployed, along with three of its Brigade Combat Teams. Its Combat Aviation Brigade is - at this moment - deploying.

The Department of Defense recently announced that the 1st and 2nd Brigade Combat Teams (BCT) of the 1st Cavalry Division  will return to Iraq in early 2009.  They will join the 4th BCT that is now in Iraq and the division's 3rd BCT that will be deploying later this year.

The 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and 41st Fires Brigade are also deployed and heavily engaged - while elements of the 13th Sustainment Command, and 36th Engineer and 48th Chemical Brigades are supporting military operations in Iraq or Afghanistan.

And the 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, activated at Fort Hood just last year, is today just beginning 15 months of ground combat in Afghanistan.

At the moment, the III US Corps Headquarters, along with the 89th MP and 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigades are at home - resetting and reequipping for future missions.

Meanwhile - on Fort Hood and all across Central Texas, Soldier Families work to keep the home fires burning, and await the return of their loved ones.

With all that is happening, we surely can help. We can ease their burden and support their efforts by actively participating in the Adopt A Unit program. We can be an important support to Soldiers and their Families - if we will just choose to do so.

And many of you are!! But if you are not, you would be most welcome to join in!!

As you scroll through this list of Fort Hood units, you may find a unit with whom you would particularly like to partner, just enroll. We will be at the other end of that email, fax or phone call to help you make a match. If you do not have a preference, we will identify an appropriately sized unit that needs a partner, and make them with your request. And if the unit you want already has a partner listed; that's OK, too. Any unit would welcome more than one civic partner.

YOUR SUPPORT REMAINS MOST WELCOME AND ALWAYS APPRECIATED
